The City of South Gate, California will hold an election for City Council on March 3, 2020. Three seats are open and there are six qualified candidates on the ballot.

Melissa Peralta Alvarado is a candidate for South Gate City Council. She is a financial planner and educator, and a lifelong resident of South Gate. She owns a small business and volunteers with the Tweedy Mile Board, Women’s Club, Multicultural Club, South Gate Chamber of Commerce and SELA Coalition. If elected she aims to advocate for a tenth California community college to be built in the City of South Gate. She aims to attract new business and create jobs. She also wants to invest in and improve infrastructure throughout the city and expand recreation programs for seniors and youth.

This candidate does not have a campaign website and/or social media page listed.

In addition to Melissa Peralta Alvarado, the other candidates running for City Council are Belén Bernal, Maria R. Davila, Jose De La Paz, Maria Del Pilar Avalos and Gil Hurtado.
