A recent survey from Purdue University and GoBankingRates.com discovered that based on respondents, a person needs an annual salary of $204,855 in order to be happy in Los Angeles.

The survey sought to identify the exact point of income where money no longer had an effect on an individual’s level of emotional well-being.

In addition to the emotional well-being income of Los Angeles, the survey also noted that in Long Beach, you need to make $188,055 to be happy, in Fresno, you need to make $113,190, in San Diego, you need to make $186,375 and you need to make an astronomical $319,935 annually to be happy in San Francisco.

Compared to the national average “happiness salary,” roughly $105,000, it highlights the high cost of living in the Golden State.
