A new report from the Sacramento Bee states that the California Department of Motor Vehicles (CA DMV) has cut the average wait time in roughly half.
The Bee listed that since September, walk-ins for the CA DMV waited an average of 38 minutes. Compared to September of 2018, which was an average of 73 minutes, it’s a significant decrease, the paper found.
The news is welcome as the Real ID state driver’s license compliant deadline is fast approaching.
Beginning on Oct. 1, 2020, all passengers will need a driver’s license, identification card, or passport that is Real ID-compliant in order to board any domestic flights or enter secure federal facilities.
For more info on obtaining a Real ID-compliant driver’s license or identification card check out the CA DMV’s website.
