Some officers were injured after police fired at several shooting suspects in the Exposition Park neighborhood near U-S-C … and the investigation is continuing this morning to determine what happened. No other details about the injuries were released. It started at 11-30-P-M Saturday near Jefferson Boulevard and Budlong Avenue where police saw someone in a gray sedan with multiple people inside fire several shots toward at least two pedestrians. That’s when the officer involved shooting occured.

Police said at least one suspect ran north on Budlong Avenue … and the gray sedan continued south on Budlong where it eventually struck a telephone pole at 35th Street. This chase eventually led police to a bubble tea spot at Vermont Avenue and 36th Place where they believe one of the suspects was barricaded. Video from the scene shows police escorting several people from the tea shop who had apparently been held hostage. Officers recovered two handguns … one in the gray sedan … and one in the area of the gunfire exchange. All suspects are believed to be still at large.

The shooting occurred about two minutes from the U-S-C campus. But a spokesperson took to social media to advise students living nearby to not panic because they were in no danger. But students were urged to stay inside … and report any suspicious activity to the university’s police department. Students who were outside the area were told to stay away.
President Donald Trump is scheduled to be in Orange County for just under 2-and-a-half hours today for a private fundraiser at n private fundraiser at tech mogul Palmer Luckey’s Newport Beach estate. Luckey … who co-founded the Oculus Rift virtual-reality system at age 19 … has donated more than 400-thousand-dollars toward the president’s re-election. Ticket for today’s fundraiser range from 2-thousand-8-hundred-dollars for individuals … up to 150-thousand-dollars for couples. This includes having a photo taken with the president. A group of Armenian-American protesters plan to demonstrate outside the event to draw attention to the humanitarian crisis in the Armenia-Azer-bai-jan conflict.
Los Angeles County is reporting 9-hundred-53 new cases of COVID-19 and 10 more deaths. Health officials say there are several missing reports from Friday night … however … so this is likely an undercount. Despite the pandemic and concerns from county health officials … a church in Walnut held a community fair Saturday that drew 5-to-6-hundred people during a 4-hour span. The On-A-Mission Church’s event included a petting zoo … a blessing of the animals … a puppet show and other entertainment. A spokesman said at least two health department representatives were believed to have been warned to stay off the property.

Eligible California residents can register by mailing a completed form … turning it in at one of the Registrar’s offices or another state government building … or by calling1-8-hundred-4-8-1-VOTE.
