Residents of Ventura California were awoken this morning by some other than an alarm clock. A 3.3-magnitude struck at 4:58 a.m. Pacific Time and was centered just off the coast of Pierpont. It was followed by a 3.4-magnitude at 5:05 a.m. which was centered along the beach near the Crowne Plaza Hotel, according to the United States Geological Survey.

Also recorded by the USGS were two quakes that shook the town of Ridgecrest, California, early in the morning.

Ridgecrest is a significant area for geological disturbance as it was where two major earthquakes hit earlier this summer; a 6.4-magnitude earthquake at 10:33 a.m. July 4, followed by a 7.1-magnitude quake at 8:19 p.m. July 5.

At present, there have been no injuries, damage, or hazards reported in the aftermath of the Ventura earthquakes.
